I also heard Salsaritas is taking over the former Qdoba in Five Points.

I am so glad something is being done with that lot. It's an eyesore on my commute every day. Finally getting a coffee spot on my way to work will be a bonus.

Cool on SBUX growing to a bakers dozen Columbia locations
But ugh on Salsarita filling the 5pts spit formerly occupied by qdoba.
Not a fan of their food.

While I like Starbucks, many of their commuter (drive thru) locations do more harm to morning commute traffic then they do good especially those having to turn left (as in across traffic) when they exit.

Bids for construction of Walmart Neighborhood Market #5813 were accepted in April.

The closest competitor will be Bi-Lo #5064, Widewater Square, 3315 Broad River Road Suite B, Columbia, South Carolina 29210-5424. Bi-Lo stores are struggling against Walmart Neighborhood Market stores.

I will admit to also being a little too excited to see the chaos as drivers exiting that new Starbucks try to make a left onto Chris Drive to catch the light for a left onto Sunset cross paths with the drivers who (inexplicably) turn down Chris Drive to get into the McDonalds drive-through instead of using the entrance on Sunset. I expect many horns and dirty words.

One of the best examples of this state's need for better planning/zoning is that stretch of 378 in Lexington where every single business has its own driveway. It's chaotic with people trying to make a left across 2 lanes of traffic.

Zoning is done by the county and Lexington County doesn't have very precise zoning, for the most part. That's how you have mobile homes and mansions next to each other. Notice how few mobile homes there are in Richland County.
