Unhappy News, 4th Oldest Person In U.S., A South Carolina Resident, Dies At 113.
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Leila Bertha Backman Shull, the oldest South Carolina resident and one of the oldest people in the world, has died. She was 113.

Shull died Saturday at her home, Todd Caughman, manager of Caughman-Harmon Funeral Homes, said Wednesday.

Shull, of Lexington County in central South Carolina, was known as an avid gardener who enjoyed raising flowers. She was also known for her cooking, especially her biscuits and chicken.
