I know that. I think Food Lion operated as Food Town at Platt Springs Center, now Three Fountains Shopping Center before relocating across the street where store #343 presently operates.

It is amazing how one end of a block can be successful and the opposite end not be successful. Approximately 30 years ago the Platt Springs end of Emanuel Church was successful. Then neighborhoods started popping up and the traffic patterns changed. The corner of Emanuel Church and Old Barnwell became home to Walgreens, CVS, and BI-LO. There is a reason these folks decided to develop this land and not the Platt Springs end. There are now more neighborhoods closer to the Old Barnwell end of Emanuel Church Road. The volume of traffic is very high. Therefore, developers and retailers choose to occupy the land where the greater number of people travel even if it is only 1/2 mile away. I travel on the end of Emanuel Church Road closest to Old Barnwell. I am very excited to finally see this development. Looking forward to seeing the Emanuel Church restaurant row emerge.

As Emmanuel Church Road continues to develop, it may be necessary to address long-term transportation solutions. The first step is to widen it and Pine Street to four travel lanes and a turn lane from Two Notch Road (secondary road 32-70) to Main Street (South Carolina Highway 302) in South Congaree. Second, a connector road from the intersection of Two Notch Road and Emmanuel Church Road to Dooley Road should be built. This could be the realignment of Dooley Road. Third, Dooley Road would be widened to four travel lanes and a turn lane from Two Notch Road to Augusta Road (United States Route 1).

Mills Corner will be KJ's Market's 15th store. It presently operates 14 stores with 3 pharmacies in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. I have not noticed a pharmacy permit issued for this store by the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

I believe the soon-to-be WalMart Neighborhood Market on Emanuel Church Road and Old Barnwell Road will also have a pharmacy. Literally ... almost a pharmacy on every corner. It looks like houses are being moved away from the property so that construction can begin.

Walmart Neighborhood Market #6291 will have a pharmacy indeed. Pharmacy is a successful department in Walmart stores.

Bi-Lo #5580 does not have a pharmacy yet.

Observing former Food Town and Food Lion stores, the building is highly reminiscent of one.
