Crime isn't bad here. There are a few neighborhoods to avoid, but overall Columbia is a safe place to live.

High compared to what? Columbia and South Carolina in general, have IMO, a lot of violent domestic crime. As far as Columbia is concerned, it's mainly concentrated in a few neighborhoods.

Waccamatt, do you know how the area around Columbia College is? Looking at Google Earth it looks like it's nestled in an older neighborhood.

I always hear about how bad crime is around here but I've only felt unsafe in one or 2 areas.

By the way, what are the bad parts of Columbia?
Someone said to stay off Two Notch Rd close to downtown.
I have friends that live way out Two Notch Rd in Wildwood and that area seems fine!

You've got to understand that Two Notch is a really long road stretching from inner Columbia to the suburban hinterlands, so it has some of everything along it.

Luvsda, as a matter of fact I live close to Columbia College. There are a lot of varying neighborhoods in this part of town so if you're thinking about one in particular, let me know and I'll let you know my opinion. You can find some good buys in this area, but then there are some areas that are primarily rental property that I would avoid.

The in-town portion of Two Notch Road has improved a lot in the last few years. The city and Benedict College have really done great things with that area.

Hasn't the city done alot to bring back the downtown area in recent years? Does anyone have pictures?
