Tell me about Orangeburg sc
I am thinking about moving from North Carolina . Not wanting to move back to Georgia. Want to start over in a small town that I would have to worry about high rent, or no jobes . I have cleaned offices for over 5 years & enjoy not having a boss standing over me. I can always fall back on cma training. Just havent wanted to be in the nursing field any more. I can do mill work. twister, doubler, windors, or back windors. Also can sew on any kind of machines . single thread to loops . Can do billing in Doctors offices. more inform. if need, I am just trying out small towns between Mt Vernon Ga to Rockingham Nc. Wanting to stay closer to Ga but remain in another State/ GA is just to high & not a lot of work I would care for. I hate Altanta or big Cities.

So Sorry
that no one has answered your post. Here's what I know, and it ain't much. Orangeburg is probably one of the lowest cost of living areas in the country but there aren't a lot of amenities. It is a college town, (SC State Univ) but the college is in some turmoil, just fired their President. O'berg was the scene of a notorious massacre (of black college students) back in the sixties. Their paper, The Times and Democrat, is online and reading it will be interesting for you. Since you're in the medical field, you'll be able to find work anywhere. Be sure to search this forum for what others have said. Some people call it paradise, others don't. I hope to visit it next trip, closest I've been is Elloree, sweet little town (REAL little) about 20 miles west. Sorry I can't be of more help but I really do suggest you check out the Times and Democrat.Good luck!

You could find work in Orangeburg in just about any of those fields. As the above poster said, there's not too much in Orangeburg in terms of amenities, but I guess you're expecting that since you're looking for a small town.

^If she's considering Rockingham, NC, then trust me, she could handle Orangeburg.

I was a teacher several years ago at the SC Dept of Juvenile Justice (juvenile prison). I can tell you that we had an enormous clientele from Orangeburg for a town that size.
Never lived there though.

So is Rockingham, but she's considering living there, so Orangeburg should be an option as well.
