Various media reports are reporting that. I do not see anything official from the University of South Carolina, its athletics, or its football program yet. Spurrier has been doing his weekly press conferences at 1200 hours every Tuesday.

Spurrier has had an excellent career. It is not the best way to go out. He has made his marks for the South Carolina Gamecocks and Florida Gators football programs.

If so, the King is dead. Long live the King.

It's the only way G.A. gets his shot. Now if Whammy would follow suit. Thanks for the memories Steve.

Mangus is speculated to be named interim head coach. He would have six games to audition for the permanent position.

I would like to see GA turn things around this season, with the current state of affairs it's a long shot.

I'm beyond thankful for everything he's done, but that being said, the team the last two years has mailed it in. The last two home openers have been an out right embarrassment. Thanks again Coach.

I would agree. It would be a difficult decision to promote from within when the program has declined in recent years. Hiring a candidate externally would be a fresh start for the program.

Would have loved to see the HBC go out on top but it is what it is. SC has always been my second favorite team after my alma mater ECU. I have family members that went to Carolina and we went to a few games when I was a kid. If GA is the interim HC then that's a good choice. Ray Tanner seems like a pretty good AD so I'm sure he'll make the right decision when it's time to hire a new coach.
