Default One more question about The Farm subdivision

I forgot to ask on the previous posting about electric heat. It seems as though the entire subdivision is electric heat only. I am just wondering if anyone has any ideas on gas vs electric heat. We are from the north, so electric bills in the 200-300 dollar range will seem very little compared to heating a house in New England with oil.
Thanks again for any advise

Electric heat is very common. Typically you will have a heat pump, which is electric. A heat pump heats in the winter and cools in the summer. It basically looks like a regular old a/c compressor.

I live in a house with a heat pump. I think they are fairly efficient to operate. If you're used to gas heat, the warm air that a heat pump creates may seem a bit cool to you. If it gets really cold, below 20 F, a heat pump will typically have some kind of second stage or backup electric coil heat to help it heat your house.

We've had some pretty cold nights over the past 30 days. My most recent electric bill was the highest one I've received in this house. It was $202. Last summer when the temps were over 100 for about a month, my bill was about $180.
