This entire thing is disappointing. Its not cool to have your elected official wrapped up in things like this.. It just makes the community look bad. I don't know why in this day and age people think that they can get away with this type of stuff in public office. In the era of smart phone, twitter, blogs, and technology.. why would you want to risk this type of exposure that will forever haunt cyberspace with your photo.. Now honest mistakes can happen when it come to taxes and certain types of required legal disclosures.. but out right flagrant FRAUD is something entirely different. I suspect this is far from over.
The FBI, SLED, and related government watch dogs have set up shop in Columbia.. starting with the Councilman Cromartie affair; Pinson at SC State.. which Mayor Steve just seemed barely to escape; City employee Tony Lawton; and now this.. Lexington is not immune either.. let us not forget Sheriff Metts and Lexington Town Councilman Danny Fraizer...With everyone knowing this.. why do anything illegal or unethical.. Its likely that these past deeds are now coming to light.. going forward hopefully we will see less of this....
From what I've heard from reputable sources, Brian Newman's tax issues are NOT related to the penny corruption claims, but were uncovered as part of the penny audit. They are not related except to the extent that his failure to paybacks was discovered because of the penny tax audit. This certainly makes the news reports about Newman's taxes more understandable.
His photo in this article speaks VOLUMES.. man.. those camera folks sure know how to pile on... A backward glancing photo in front of a judge.. with a deputy behind you and a sneaky look on your face... SMH.. priceless...

Glad we are not like the republicans in Wisconsin. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/27/op...lker.html?_r=0 I think all cheating needs to be stopped... Republican and Democrat! But if we don't take time to educate ourselves and vote, it will never happen.

I think the big problem in local elections is that so few people vote. People need to be more engaged in the political process.
Does any of this really surprise anyone? By the way, nice shot Woodrow.
