Anybody remember this restaurant ?
Back in the late 1970's when I was young kid, we stopped, and ate at this restaurant that looked like a pirate ship or a schooner. It was located on the east side of Columbia on Hwy 378 going towards Sumter.
The ship was located on a small lake and was docked next to the parking lot.
I have asked around and only a few people remember it. I believe the name of it was "The Bounty".
I heard that the owner went bankrupt and the ship sat empty for many years and was eventually burned up.
Does anyone know what is located there now?

I remember the Bounty. The restaurant was a well-done replica of the famous ship and it was docked on a lake off Sumter Highway in Columbia. I think the owner passed away and it closed shortly thereafter. It did later burn down. I used to go there all the time as a kid - it was one of my favorite seafood restaurants.

Thanks, I remember them having a seafood buffet, and if Im not mistaken the buffet table was shaped like a ship. The food was really good there. I'm planning a trip to Myrtle Beach and im reliving some of the memories from my childhood visiting South Carolina.

Yes, I remember Applegate's Landing, also. It was located on Decker Blvd. where the Chik-fil-a is now. Does anyone remember Smuggler's Inn next to the old Richland Mall before it was enlarged?

The Bounty Seafood Restaurant
It was the Bounty Seafood Restaurant opening in November 1975. The Owner was BC Inabinet of Defender Chemical Corporation in Columbia, SC.
I gave rides on the Baby Bounty around Kaufman Pond in the Summer of 1976. BC died in 1981 and Defender Chemical no longer wanted the restaurant so it reverted to the landowner BC had a lease with and they eventually had it burned down by the fire department. It was quite a site from Sumter highway and caused several accidents as people became distracted by the view at night.

Applegates Landing
My first job was at JC Penney located in a mall called Town East which is still located in Wichita, KS on Kellogg and Rock Road. I would eat lunch at this restaurant in the far end of the Mall's parking called Applegates Landing. They had this fabulous dish called Gillbertenie. It was pasta with 5 different Italian cheeses. It was to die for. Yes the restaurant went bandrupt and never heard from them again. It was an early adulthood memory that I will cherish always.

I remember the Bounty! When I was growing up ate there on Friday nights with my Mom and my bf. At the time thought it was kind of cool, a ship on a lake with a restaurant! Waccamatt, also remember the Smugglers Inn! Ate there a lot on weekends. Was sorry to see it close. Does anyone remember Julies on Garners Ferry (great shrimp scampi!) or Cork n Cleaver in St. Andrews???

I sure do remember Smuggler's Inn on Beltline next to the earlier incarnation of Richland Mall. They tore it down when they rebuilt the larger mall.
