Our family is possibly relocating to the Columbia, SC area in the summer. We want to get as much info as we can to prepare ahead of time. We are currently in a suburb of Seattle, WA and need a fresh start.
We are looking for a house to buy that is relatively comparable in cost of living and under $100,000. We are a family of 6, wife and I are in, and our 4 kids are Elementary, Middle School, and High School aged. Looking for someplace greener, milder winters with minimal snow, a nice place to raise a family.
Need a very safe and an affordable area to buy a house with 3-4 bedroom for under $100,000, prefer 30 minutes commute or less from the Fort the down town and the University of South Carolina area. Good public schools is a must.
Thank in advance for all your help and recommendations!

For 100k I don't know if u can get a 3-4 bedroom. Most houses in a desirable area that are built cheaply with a 3-4 bedroom will start at around 150k. If I had to recommend some places it would be the irmo area, maybe some places around rosewood, maybe west Columbia or cayce, and maybe the area around Richland northeast.
