Many of this board have been clamoring for this for years. Looks like we're finally getting a serious, grown-up, big city downtown circulator.

Trolley Time? Columbia

Also nice to see the strong growth and stats for COMET. Going from less than a million to 2.5 million rides in five years is remarkable.

Again?. Base on the growth let's hope it FAREs better than the historic trolley shuttlesnrustinf on some backlotPun intended. Fare should be free initially If they are turning away passengers then charge a buck.

This is amazing. I'm hoping this goes from bus trolleys to Real trolley in the future. I'm actually excited

This is really good but I hope they bill it as an actual circulator bus and not a fake trolley.

Just another bus system that will be littered with homeless crack-heads.

Yay.

The intent of a circulator bus is to provide transportation between districts in downtown Columbia. Many people who use the bus are working folks, some are soldiers, some are college students.

I moved up to Columbus, OH about a year and a half ago. They have a free circulator bus that connects downtown with areas just north and just south of downtown. The equivalent in Columbia would probably be just a basic loop along Gervais, Harden, Blossom and Huger.

Is it even possible for a homeless person to ride a bus aimlessly from one end of the line to the other and just get off and immediately get back on and do it again and again? I would imagine even a free bus would have its limits . Would the old "hobo rule" of traveling with no visible means of support and occupying public spaces kick in aka vagrancy ...or maybe that was only in Mayberry ...lol

I have ridden city buses in Baltimore and have seen very industrious individuals selling tube socks deodorant candy razors and other items at the back of the bus with impunity at the back of the bus and actually getting passengers as customers In cola our crackheads ain't that bold nor industrious

This bus system should be the old trolleys running not a normal bus running. I would like to see the bus Trolleys back on the road again. Give them a new color or paint. Make them bright and easy to spot.
