We're looking to build in one of the new communities over that way but wondering if there will be any future restaurants and shopping over near that way. Right now it looks like we would either have to go into Lexington or Red Bank to do any shopping. I'm new to the area so I may be missing something. Trying to make a decision on if we want to invest in property where there is no current development other than a gas station/McDonald's.

Thanks in advance!

If you're REALLY looking long term, plans were announced to build a brand new hospital (Lexington Medical Center) on 52 acres near I-20 and Longs Pond Rd. They said around 2025 they will be moving forward. If anything more concrete comes, I'm sure it will spur a lot more commercial development, although there may be a lot more out there long before the hospital starts building.

I-20 in Lexington County is being widened to three lanes in each direction up to the Longs Pond Rd. I think that will help spur new development off that exit.

I wonder if there is future plans to widen Longs Pond Road especially with these plans coming out.
