Default Where to live close to Ridgeway?

Hello

A job may be bringing our family to Ridgeway, SC very soon. We are not familiar with the area at all and would very much appreciate some recommendations. We will likely rent a house in the beginning and need the area to have a good school district - we have one child with special needs and would require an IEP. Is Ridgeway itself a nice area to live? If not, what subdivisions/areas close to Ridgeway would you recommend? Any listings of houses for rent in the area would be helpful as well.

We are coming from Michigan and looking forward to finally moving down south

Thank you!!

Hi mom2bal! Congrats on moving to SC. I myself am a transplant from PA/NY and love it here..and the nice warm weather too! :-) I was wondering why Ridgeway? Its a nice little town, but not too much there and very rural, in my opinion. It is however near Blythewood and not too too far from some parts of Columbia. You may want to check out the Blythewood area first and then maybe Ridgeway. I'm not sure what school system Ridgeway is, but I hear from many that Blythewood has good schools. Plus there is more in the town of Blythewood and it has a good amount of subdivisions. Have you looked into jobs that are near the Ridgeway area or is Ridgeway something that was recommended to you? Hope this information helps!

Tiffany

I will second the Blythewood recommendation; it is in Richland School District 2, which is one of the better districts in the state. Blythewood is much closer to shopping, entertainment, etc. in Columbia, but is a quick drive to Ridgeway. Ridgeway is a very small town and very quaint, but the schools are not known as the best. Blythewood is one of the outer suburbs of Columbia.

Default Hi!!! And thanks...

We have been wanting to relocate to SC(get out of dreary MI) and an career opportunity presented itself in Ridgeway this past week -we are looking for a short commute to the town..Thanks for the Blythewood recommendation. I'm glad to hear that there is a good school district and some shopping . We are in a part of Michigan right that has heavy traffic, and an overabudance of shopping malls...I am looking forward to a small town feeling, charm and warm, sunny days ..Blythewood sounds very ideal! I'll have to do some searching around to see about home rentals.

Thanks again! I will likely be posting with more questions this week!
