When your mother is born in a EU country there is a guarantee you will be weaned on the food.

My mother was from Hungary and the food was terrific.....she taught my Irish/German wife many dishes that I still miss today. I do cook some for myself but not all of them.

On Thurs made some Palachinta (Crepes) the same way she made them.

When a little guy my mother would be cooking chicken soup on Sunday...a ritual every week while dad and I went to the nearby Church services. Other days maybe a Pasta dish (many different combos) Cabbage Rolls,, Paprikas with dumplings...makes my mouth water as I have some beef in the fridge waiting to be cooked with dumplings or Baked Potato covered with brown gravy...such decisions to be made.

It sounds like Hungarian and Polish food have some meals in common I absolutely love these polish meals:

1) red beetroot soup with little dumplings filled with wild musrooms ("barszcz")

2) dumplings ("pierogi")

3) breaded pork chop ("schabowy")
https://www.google.com/search?q=scha...zL1RUFkkSSM%3A

4) potatoe pancake with goulash

and many many more, mmm now i am hungry
