Default Up Goes the Signs, In Goes Some Contacts..

So Columbia has finally added some of those location signs down Bull St. I love the color design of primary blue and secondary yellow/orange. What I hate is the size that they made these signs. There is absolutely no way I can read EVERYTHING on that sign at the speed I drive (and I know I'm not driving that fast.)

I'm not asking for anything like Orlando or Miami, but I want to at least be able to see the sign before I'm a car-length away. Good start Columbia, but I need it bigger and better. :-)

I'll have to go seek some out tomorrow and see how they look. They've just started putting them up this week.

Edit: I decided to go out tonight and see what they look like. You're right, they are way too small and I know what they say. They need to be double the size.

Some of the signs also point people in the wrong direction.

Some of the arrows pointed the wrong way. The sign company is supposed to fix them next week. You'll be glad to know I emailed the mayor and my city council people last night to let them know the print is too small.

Columbia could learn a thing or two from one of its peer cities in the state when it comes to this issue. This is what Greenville's looks like downtown. It's big enough to read and points in the right direction:

Default Nice!

I love it! It is definitely good size shape and you can't miss it because it is right at the intersection. The only problem I would have with it is since it is at the intersection, it probably would be too late to change lanes if you are not in the right one. Still, that is much better than the ones we have here in Columbia.

It's so large though that you could see it from a mile away practically.
