Thanks for posting, Brandon, but I've been on boards for 10 years. Of course I've run across a lot of things I found to be offensive, but if you go through all of the forums on city-data along with others, the topic of religious discrimination and racial unrest on this one is flagrant. In fact, it's rarely brought up in other discussions.

I don't know why a member who decided to read some posts while she sips her evening tea has to see such hateful remarks. The ones that followed weren't any more comforting. I thought this was the United States of America but, from what I've seen, the Third Reich is alive and well in South Carolina.

I'm serious - why would anyone use the term "child-molesting Jews?" Also, another member referred to Judeo-Marxism and Karl Marx was very antisemitic, unless you are talking about Groucho, Harpo and Chico.

At first I just glanced and read the posts quickly & figured someone was being sarcastic, but the words were so shocking to me that I went back to the first page and read every comment and I still can't find the post.

Anyway, thanks all for opening up my eyes. I never expected to change SC or anywhere I live. I only wanted to find a peaceful place to call home with friendly people who respect others.

Oh, by the way, I've been to many Christmas parties & corporate dinners where the manager said Grace and I never found it to be offensive at all. Why would I? However, now that I know that, as a Jew, I probably wouldn't even be allowed at the table, I guess I need to focus on moving somewhere else. I appreciate the candor, however repulsive I find it to be.

Just a few more words to educate the ignorant. It's in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy) where we are asked to remember God for our food. "When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you." Many Jewish families pray before or after dinner.
Nancy, I'm also Jewish and haven't experienced any overt anti-semitism here. I think we need to pay attention to the fact that the post was made online so one has no idea who really made it.

NancyM is on a distinguished road
I'm living in central NJ now and am relocating to either Columbia or Greenville end of this month or end of Feb 08. I'm going to rent month to month at Oakwood while I look for a home and check out the areas further.

I visited twice already for 4 days each and was amazed at how many friendly people I met.

This thread and others on Columbia have been a lifesaver for me in making my decision. Thanks to all who participate here.
