Default Arcadia Lakes vs. Forest Acres

We just found a potential home in Arcadia Lakes. There have been many threads about Forest Acres, and I am convinced it would be a safe, nice area to raise a family. Arcadia Lakes looks to be a pleasant community but appears closer to a run down area of town. Is there any distinguishable differences between Arcadia Lakes and Forest Acres? Is Arcadia Lakes less safe?

Also, I saw on another blog that Arcadia Lakes has trash pick-up issues...does anyone know anything about this?

Once again, I appreciate any local input!

Texas Mom

They're separate towns, but both are very nice. If I'm not mistaken, Arcadia Lakes has the highest per capita income of any municipality in South Carolina to give you an idea of the type town it is.

I live in Forest Acres, 1-2 blocks from Arcadia. I'm also a third grade teacher at the local elementary school that you would be zoned for. It is a very safe area. Decker Blvd is not fantastic, but there have been talks about trying to revitalize it.

Once again, thank you for your input. This is a great forum and goes a long way in helping "outsiders" make critical decisions that will affect their family and quality of life.

I have friends that live in both areas and they seem satisfied with their decision to do so.

Two different cities, but you can't tell the difference between them since Arcadia Lakes is basically surrounded by Forest Acres

Default forest Acres

Forest Acres police and Trash pick up are both great! I have never had a problem with trash pick up in Forest Acres. They even pick up on some holidays!
