Question Safe neighborhood for young female!

I am moving to the Columbia SC area shortly(10 days) and I have been searching for a safe neighborhood to live in and have not found a great answer. I am a 22yr single female who knows no one in the area. I am looking to find an apartment under $600 in rent in a safe neighborhood. It does not matter for a commute because I am currently in search of a job. I have been searching for apartments for months and I cannot decide on any because I do not know the area or what the complex is really like. If anyone could offer me help that would be amazing!

Some apartments that have caught my eye are: The Hollows, Lexington Place, Stoney Creek, Green Oaks, Parklane. Any thoughts on those?

In my opinion, given your age, you want to be in the 5-points/USC campus area. But, I have no idea how much apartments are there. I'd try to stay as close to those areas as possible. Also, there is always craigslist.com

Craigslist is a good place to start as is The State Newspaper's apartments section. $600 is at the low end, but there are some places you can find.

columbia, SC apts/housing for rent classifieds - craigslist

I noticed the Rapids Apartments have affordable rent and they are close to The Vista and Five Points and would have a younger group of residents for the most part. Cornell Arms in the heart of downtown has apartments starting at $550, including utilities. Some people like Cornell Arms and some don't, but it is in an outstanding location with many restaurants within walking distance.

Try Granby Oaks on State Street. Its in West Columbia/Cayce. I loved living there.
