Hello,

My husband is looking into a job opportunity in Columbia and I was wondering what area would be great raise 3 young children. I was hoping to relocate a scenic area that has a country feel to it. We did not want to be in a heavily congested area but the schools will be important to us. My husband won't mind commuting as long as it is reasonble in distance (maybe 25-30 miles)

Any suggestions? TIA

It will really depend on your commute as to what areas you'll want to look at. Until he gets a job pinned down it's hard to say. NW or NE Columbia will work, Chapin or Blythewood, or Lexington.

Maybe even Pelion, Wagoner, or Batesurg-Leesville (although that's a tretcht).

I would second the recommendation of Blythewood or Chapin. Gilbert might be a possibility too.

I also have 3 kids ( one in elementary - one in middle - one in highschool.) I moved her 10 years ago and live in Lexington. It is absolutely wonderful for raising a family! Go to Lexington1.net to read about the schools. The Gilbert area is also in this school district and has more of the country feel, but parts of Lexington do too. Best of luck!!!
