gas
there is a really good website for gas prices - GasBuddy.com - Find Low Gas Prices in the USA and Canada. I am up in DC as some of you know, and gas here is still 3.43...why on earth are people in South Carolina freaking out about the gas? I have watched the state's(pretty much only SC) gas prices go out of the ceiling. On GasBuddy South Carolina was always in the top 5 for cheapest gas in the country. now, it isn't even in the top 10. What's up? Why only in SC?

wholesale gas prices had a temporary spike overnight due to the hurricane, hence this morning as I'm driving to work gas ranged from $3.89 to $4.79 for regular on a 3-mile stretch in the NE. Hoping the hurricane is not as bad as expected and will dip back down from here.

I noticed last night on the way home that every gas station I passed was packed with cars trying to fill up.

Everybody is topping off their tanks. Go figure. This will only make prices go higher. $4.29 for unleaded regular at Pumpers this morning in Greenville. The southeastern states are the most affected from the hurricanes because a lot of our gas comes from the gulf states.

This started here last night ... lines at all the stations with gas prices going up every few minutes ... today some locations are out of gasoline ... others are limiting your purchase to a 10 gallon limit.
If a station has petro in their underground tanks they paid X number of dollars for and raise their price per gallon is that not price gouging?

Most of the southeast US gets most of their gas from the Texas refineries. I would imagine DC gets it from all over the place, hence is not effected as much.

Just on CNN news about gas prices. They said in Sumter, SC gas prices went to $5.23 for regular today at the Pantry gas stations.
I know there is a gasoline line from Louisana to just outside Columbia. They had in the paper when Hurricane Katrina was going on. They have probably shut down their supply.

Im in Columbia SC and just wanted to say. They are telling everyone not to freak out but as one sees the others getting gas then they go get in line too. I planned to travel over the weekend to Charleston so i filled up both of my cars last night. And funny thing it was 3.69 when i filled up my truck and when i came back 10minutes later with my car it had went up to 3.91 and now 4.00 this morning. The news is saying that it is legal but a lot of people are mad that the prices went up.
