Chinese Dim Sum
Does anyone know of any authentic Chinese Dim Sum or dumplings here in Columbia? I'm craving real chinese food (American Chinese food is good too but not now) so I would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

Try the Miyo's group - M Vista, M Cafe and Miyo's; they will make pretty much anything you want, especially at M Vista on Lady Street.

If you like Thai, have you been to Baan Sawan in Five Points?

I like Thai-I'll have to check it out. I have much more experience with authentic Chinese then Thai though. I was in London for a while, and while there was a plethora of both cuisines, the Thai restaurants tended to be more upscale. So me, the student opted for the cheaper Chinese of course. Although my love for Dim Sum/Chinese Dumplings began after I visited Taiwan.
Have you been to that Indian Pavillian restaurant in 5 points? I'm thinking of trying that also.

Alot of good Chinese food out in Cali I take it? The majority here in South Carolina is greasy take-out. Good, but it wouldn't sell in China lol.

I haven't been to India Pavilion in awhile; it used to be good, but it has been awhile. There is also Delhi Palace and I think Bombay Bistro is still open on Bush River Road. There is also an Indian restaurant next to the La Quinta Inn off Broad River that I've eaten at and it was pretty good.
For Thai I also like Thai Lotus on St. Andrews Road. The best thing about M Vista is that if Michelle, the owner, is there, they will make pretty much anything you ask for. I can't remember if they have dim sum on the menu, but I've asked for special items several times and they've always been able to accommodate.

Good question. Before moving back to Columbia, I travelled around Asia a lot and really, really took a liking to Dim Sum. As for Thai (my favorite....I lived in Bangkok for 2 years), I suggest giving the new Thai restaurant on Sunset Blvd in West Columbia a try. Good food with large, reasonably priced portions.
