Columbia area bakery
We moved to Lexington from upstate NY 2 yrs ago and just absolutely love it. One of the very few things we miss is crusty italian bread that we used to get. Is there a good bread bakery or store in the Columbia area that may have this ??

Try the Gourmet Shop in Five Points or Tiffany's Bakery on Two Notch Road. You can find almost any kind of gourmet treat imaginable at the Gourmet Shop. You also might want to check out Cloud Nine in the Vista.

You're thinking of Cribb's Bakery. They had a fire and then never reopened. Their building is a Time Warner Cable TV office now. So many grocery stores have their own bakeries now that the free-standing bakery is becoming a thing of the past.

I went to Walmart at haribson around 5pm one evening and found hot and fresh from the oven Italian bread! I ran home and made a sandwich and drank a cup of Spanish coffee....yummy!
I remember growing up in NY and we would go to the bakery and get fresh bread several times a week. Those spots are hard to find.

I really liked Tiffany's bakery- I only wished I had stopped in sooner when I was still living in Cola. I don't remember if they have italian bread, but it is certainly worth a look.

I would have to chime in that Tiffany's is one of my personal favorites. It's definately worth stopping in.

Gourmet Rose for restaurant food to take home
if you want fresh food fixed for your family, go to Gourmet Rose, located on Forest Drive on the east side of town near the Wal Mart. Ms. Naccash fixes many meals, caters, fixes kosher meals, and you just cannot beat being able to pick up your meal on the way home, already fixed for you. She does cater huge events, such as catering for Bill Clinton when he was in town during the primaries.

I will second this; I've had Rose Mary cater for me before and her food is legendary.

What about Panera Bread in Sandhills? I've never personally gone but I've heard that it's very good.
