I was up in Charlotte for the weekend at my buddy's and on the way home Sunday I stopped at the Walmart on Two Notch for dog food. When I went in I noticed that nothing was roped off so I asked the greeter if they didn't follow the blue law and she said no.

I knew the stores at Sand Hills opened well before 1:30pm but I thought maybe they had some sort of arrangement upon building, but I guess not.

Is all of Columbia exempt from the blue law, or is it just certain areas? Is it just Sumter?

Richland County has had no restrictions for years except that the state only recently allowed cities and counties to approve Sunday beer and wine sales in stores, which are now legal in the city and unincorporated areas of the county. Stores can open and close as they see fit in Columbia and Richland County, but most other areas still have restrictions.

I just realized the other day that you can buy beer and wine on Sunday. I knew that we were going to be able to, but I did not realize it had gone into affect.

It's been in effect in the city for awhile, but the county just voted to allow Sunday liquor sales on election day.

What county is Harbison in? I thought I saw a sign putting it in Richland, but we drove up early yesterday morning to catch up with some stuff we've been putting off since Christmas, but everything was closed/roped off until 1:30...

Both, the line runs through the mall parking lot.

you can buy beer and wine at Publix on Harbison Blvd on Sunday. That area has been annexed by the city of Columbia.

So it's just up by the Interstate that's closed? Walmart was roped off, the mall was closed, and so was Verizon (the 3 places we tried before driving back across to Sandhills).

All of Columbiana Mall is in Lexington County except for Dillards, which is in Richland. Stores in Richland County can open and close whenever they want.
