I wish too. My folks live in Oxon Hill, but I'm not going home.

I'd love to go, but it isn't in the budget right now.

I wouldn't go if you paid me. I bet it'll be cold, maybe rainy, with too many people, too few portalets and all the inconveniences of the security.
Trust me, it'll be much better on TV.

I think I am just going to ride the metro down to one of the bars and hang out. I was going to walk around an interview people and take a lot of pictures to see if I could sell it to some of the smaller papers that won't be there...but, I am terrible at that kind of stuff. I will just enjoy a nice beer while watching all the chaos

I agree its going to be rough..unless u know someone who lives in DC and can crash in with them and walk/bike down to the mall u may not have a good time.. that plus the unpredictable weather. They are planning to close the bridges into the City from VA early which will force everyone to go into MD coming up from the south. They will then join all the people coming in to DC from MD and the north....OUCH. Amtrak and all the commuter railroads into DC are SOLD OUT that day and bars in DC have been granted permission to stay open until 5am up from 2am to accomodate the crowds. This should be a major boost to the DC City economy with accomodation taxes, food tax, use of Metro, etc etc. Union Station is going to be a mad house as all these trains come in... since it is several blocks from the capital... oh and security is going to be very very tight pack a lunch

Yeah, I agree. I live inside the beltway here in DC - about a mile from the Silver Spring Redline metro stop. I am also going to the South Carolina State Society Inauguration Ball that is being held that Monday night at the Air and Space Museum..I actually get to wear my tux..

Is that South Carolina State (University) that is hosting this or this some other organization affiliated with the state of South Carolina? I know that Congressman Clyburn is a big State Alumni and may be hosting things or is this something else.. just curious

it is the South Carolina State Society of DC. I am a member, joined about two months ago, so I haven't really had a chance to go to any functions, but I think it is for SC people living here.
Welcome to the South Carolina State Society of Washington D.C.
