Well both, the Atrium and the Tower, are on Faraway but they're right next to each other so that's not an issue. If you're at Percival then it's just up the road, so that's not a problem either. We at least know what area to look at.
Try "The Keswick" on Sparkleberry. Their number is (888) 764-9362 so you could try calling about vacancy. 1BR prices range $665-790. Sparkleberry is a good location because it's going to be about 1.5 miles (if that) from the Percival building and about 6 miles from Faraway. It's also going to put you on the back side of Two Notch so you'd only be around 3 miles or so from shopping like Target/Best Buy/PetCo/Kroger/Publix/etc (and much more) and then 4-4.5 miles from Village at Sandhills.
Even right there near the apartments on Sparkleberry is a San Jose, an Italian place, a coffee shop, Zaxby's, Walgreens, and some other stuff so you could walk across the street if you wanted to grab some dinner.
If it was me moving here to a new city for an established job, this is where I'd want to be. Easy access to I20 and some other main roads to do a little exploring, quick access to work, and immediate access to some retail/commerce so that you aren't overwhelmed and flustered trying to find things to do and worried about getting lost trying to find a grocery store.
Here's another one on Sparkleberry - "Spring Valley" - (866) 915-5489. They don't show any 1BRs but have a 2BR listed for $561.
I don't know all the roads in the area as I just work in Columbia, but what I did was went to
Apartments.com | Find Apartments for Rent, Houses, Condos and Townhomes | Rental Listings and clicked 'SC' on the map. Click on "Western SC", then click "Central Columbia". On the screen that allows you to check communities, I checked options 2, 5 & 6 as these would offer the easiest access to getting to/from work. I checked 1BR with a max of $750/mo and that returned 23 results.
It might be easier if you follow those steps and look into a couple of them, call them and check on availability, then come back here and post which ones you have it narrowed down to (with the road names) so that the folks here who *are* familiar with them could offer their insight.
