Census: 2006-2007 Metropolitan Statistical Area growth | Spartanburg, South Carolina | GoUpstate.com | Spartanburg Herald-Journal

I wasn't able to find 2000-2007, I will keep searching or wait for you to point me to that info. But this info shows Greenville with higher raw numbers and percentage numbers for 06-07. I thought Saluda and Newberry were added to Columbia's msa shortly after 2000? That alone would push its numbers wouldn't it?

Columbia: 1.7% 12,158 new residents
Greenville: 2.2% 13,315 new residents

I didn't realize Columbia had that small of a MSA. If Anderson and Spartanburg are added back in 2010 to Greenville's, ours will be over 1 million easily.

That was for one year. I'm looking for the stats he is talking about from 2000-07. Wasn't GSA seperated during this time and counties added to Columbia? If thats the case how is it pure growth? Its sort of like annexing.

Counties were added to Columbia's MSA during that time.

Ahhh. How is that pure growth? GSA was dissected during the same time right?

I'm not sure. Ask Waccamatt. He's the one who said it was.

I guess when the original GSA is back that will be pure growth too then. Just following the law.

Okay thanks, that's what I was thinking. It was late the other night and I just ran across another thread and just didn't have the energy to research it.

Now I shall go back and read the rest of the post.

I didn't start this thread with any malicious intent. I was genuinely interested in the latest Columbia growth figures since the new census estimates came out in December. I knew the area had picked up in percent growth over the past few years but I was just curious as to how fast? I saw it listed in the top twenty on another thread and posed the question.
