USC has a pretty good placement department. You'd be well advised to sign up for some interviews through them. ideally, you should have started interviewing last semester.
Columbia does have some marketting firms, but they are fairly small.

I don't know much about marketing itself, but I know everyone always heads to NYC & Los Angeles looking for work/their break/etc. I would look at some of the slightly smaller, yet still very much mainstream and chic (that's a term that would apply/appeal to marketing majors, right?), cities: Atlanta, Raleigh, Chicago, Boston, SLC (one of my personal faves), Dallas, Nashville, Columbus, Portland, Tampa, etc.

Outside of the big 3 cities there will only be regional marketing firms for the most part. There are several marketing companies based in Columbia plus many companies have their own marketing departments.

another possible option, depending on exactly what you want to 'specialize' in: there are many manufacturers and distributors throughout the country that sell their goods/programs direct to chains and marketing is but one of the important parts of the puzzle. Hook up with the right one and it can be a heck of a ride. Just a thought.
