I moved here from Newark,NJ in 2005 and the school systems in Newark aren't that great my grandchildren go to school here just transfered from Newark schools this year and they are doing great. So come on down it's not boring at all it up to you what activities you want to participate in, me and my husband bowl all the time in leagues and free style bowling and the kids love to bowl too. Our church is wonderful, members real nice they don't church like Newark do you know us northeners let the Holy Spirit run the church not the people. One problem Im having though can't seem to find a doobie shop no where for my grandaughter.(: but im still looking as we speak. May God bless you with your move and be glad to have you, the more the merry especially if you are a Christian.

fellow Newarker
Im from Newark myself been living in Columbia since 2005, I love it wouldn't move back to Newark for nothing in the world. Just visited my relatives and friends there back in March, nothing has changed. Its so pleasant here, neighbors so nice and helpful weather is lovely,no snow to shovel a lot of leafs but nothing like driving in that snow or shoveling your car out to go to work. Still haven't found that doobie shop though if you hear about one let me know and i will do the same for you.

We both have distant family and roots in South Carolina. A lot of people say it is too slow for them, but I would rather have a better quality of life than be concerned with the action-so I think anyway!
My husband has his CDL-B, local, but not over the road. He has been in transportation from buses to trucks for the past 10 years. I am a court clerk, but I also have past administrative experience. I plan to go back to college and obatin a teaching degree. We have found some nice places in Richland County, however, I am not sure what it is really like to live in 29223.
My son is into football and basket -ball and mentioned an interest in soccer. We are of Christian Faith so we are hoping to move near a church.
We plan to move some time in mid April or May. We have put in some applications, but have not gotten many callbacks. IS there any advice?

There aren't really any Dominicans in SC, and very few Puerto Ricans, Cubans, etc., so a doobie shop will probably be hard to come by. (In fact, they're not all that easy to find outside of NY, NJ, Miami, and maybe a few other spots in the NE...)
Best of luck, though!

I am obviously ignorant on this topic, because I would expect a doobie shop to sell cigarettes rolled with cannabis and tobacco.

Oh, I still think the same thing when I see the term "doobie". And "Black Water" starts playing in my head. However, I've spent a little time in a Dominican community in NYC, so I know the term.

^LOL, I think it's a specific type of hair salon and not what we call a head shop in Columbia.

Haha. Right. Yes, sorry. A doobie shop is a hair salon. A literal "head shop", if you will. Not a figurative "head shop".
