Question Relocating to Chapin - looking for best subdivisions for kids

We (husband, 3 kids: pre-teen, toddler and infant, and dog) will relocate to SC in the summer of 2009. We're focusing on the Chapin area because of the schools (lex5) - I'm reading that Lexington (Lex1) is also a great system....can anyone advise on the best neighborhoods (new or established) in these two areas? Looking for pet friendly, lots of kids, not too crowded and safe.

Any input on builders or neighborhoods to avoid would also be appreciated....thank you!

What size home and what price range are you looking for. This would help to narrow down the search so we know what direction to point you in.

You have a mecca of properties to choose from in this area. I think that Lexington has a little more to offer as far as shopping, dining, and schools. There are lots of neighborhoods in both areas that fit your needs though. It depends on where you will be working and how close you want to be to town. Downtown Lexington has pretty much everything you need close by. Chapin is a little more rural and Lake Murray is what has attracted many people to the Chapin area. If you are going to be commuting to the downtown area, you will have an easier and closer drive from the Lexington side. There are many builders with a great reputation in both areas, but in order to help you better, narrow your search a little.
