Pediatricians who don't require immunizations
Does anyone know of a ped. in the area who will accept newborns who are not immunized? We are having a hard time finding one.
Thanks!

That's because doctors take an oath to do no harm, and not immunizing infants does harm.

I will repeat what has been said. Why would you not want to immunize your baby?

You will never be able to enroll your child in school in South Carolina if they have not been immunized. Those of you who pooh pooh immunization - how do you think that measles, rubella, small pox, etc. have all but become a thing of the past? Not immunizing your child is indefensible, IMO.

They'll just homeschool. A certain sort of people feel that their children must be protected and sheltered from all outside influences. Of course germs don't care about that. In the old days this same sort of people viewed immunizations as a way to protect their children, since they had seen the horrifying ravages of diseases with their own eyes. Because immunizations have been so successful, people like the Muslims of Nigeria now have room to believe that polio and measels immunizations are a Christian plot to sterilize Muslims. The result? Hundreds of children have died. When measles comes through the US, it will be too late, and people will get to ask God why their child died while others lived.

Polio <3's you, too.
As far as people not immunizing their children, it's mostly the religious nutjobs that are all into this. Unfortunately, the children suffer, because the decision is made for them. These same people are the ones who let kids lie in bed and suffer rather than taking them to a hospital. It's sickening.

I know some 'alternative' medicine folks who are against immunization, too. I keep pointing out the school thing to them.

you know what? the kids can't choose to have medical treatments or not. It's up to the parents to do every thing in their power to make sure their children are safe and healthy. When a kid becomes an adult, then let them make up their mind if they want doctors in their life or not.
But for a child to possibly suffer based on whatever the parents' beliefs are--that is just not right...
