Default not happy with windstream/dish network

so, i just got off the phone with windstream & dish network. i wanted to confirm that i just had a ONE YEAR subscription. windstream: yes. dish: NO. wha?! wha?! WHAT?!?

when we first moved down here, we knew we were only going to be in our current residence (a rental) for just a year since we knew we were going to buy (we're scheduled to close next month). after comparing offers, we decided to go with windstream and get dish network thrown in the "bundle".

so, now that we're nearing the end of our subscription period, we've decided we really don't care for windstream internet service (not as fast as advertised) and dish being dish--cuts out when there's a raindrop. also, not to thrilled with their version of "on demand". god, i miss comcast.

i'm really ticked off that i specifically asked for a one year subscription and get tacked on for another year of satellite service without my knowledge. i guess i'm just venting, but does anyone know of any recourse i can take in this situation?

What happens if you cancel? Is there a penalty fee?

yes. the penalty is $150. $12.50 per month left on the "agreement" with dish. i just got off the phone with both companies and each is blaming the other for this "misunderstanding". . .we're probably just going to suck it up for the remaining year. we may just switch internet providers, though, since windstream's contract was a just year.

what i don't understand is that we signed up for satellite service THRU windstream. shouldn't our subscription terms be with them?

Then I would try to contact them (Windstream) and inform them that it is their responsibility to straighten it out.

Any chance you'd save more than $12.50/mo by leaving dish and going back to cable?
