Moving to Columbia ??'s
We are in our early 60's and will need to rent a 2 bedroom apartment for a while.
We need a place that is pet friendly.
We want to live in a desirable, safe neighborhood, which is close to the downtown area, and is very walkable.
We need to keep the rent below $1,000.00 per month.
Do any places come to mind?
AND
Do any areas of Columbia come to mind?

I think the Shandon area would suit you nicely. There are some condo and apartment complexes that I think would have a 2 bedroom unit for $1000 or less. The pet aspect may just take a little more looking. Shandon is very walkable with grocery and retail stores and restaurants nearby.

Sounds like the new Rosewood Hills would suit you just right. 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath duplexes and townhouses are $950.00 per month. Lots of green space around for walking and its right downtown, overlooking the USC stadium!
Look at www.ColumbiaHomeRentals.com for more info!

Brand new Rosewood Hills, although a great housing project, is still a housing project.

Rosewood Hills looks very nice and it isn't a housing project like you would typically think of one as - I think it would be worth taking a look.

That always makes things more of a challenge, doesn't it?

Rosewood Hills is NOT a "housing project" . It is a multi-faceted urban community which has homes to purchase starting at around $200K, a few rental duplexes starting around $950 -1150 and a few townhomes for rent.
Millions have been spent to prepare and build this project . I may mention that it also "green built" and has many energy saving features.
Yes, pets are allowed.

I've driven through and it is impressive. It has quality building materials, an abundance of sidewalks, and a very healthy supply of oaks and other trees. By the time the trees have a few growing seasons behind them the neighborhood will be prestigious.
