for what it's worth, from what i've been told in our searches of new subs to build in ( from perspective neighbors, not developers ), the Chapin LM elementary is also highly thought of. We're already empty nesters, so it's really only important to us for potential resale down the road. But we do take it into account. The Chapin area schools in general seem to have done well from what we've been told.

There are indeed two PUBLIC LMES...one in lexington 1 and the other in Lexington/Richland 5. neither are the "best" in their district, but the LMES in Lex/Rich 5 is rated higher. There is also a lake Murray Montessori. What kind of area are you looking for?? There is a very different feel to Lexington and Irmo/Chapin, which are the two areas the schools are in...

There are 2 LMES, Lex 1 and Lex/Richland 5. Both are excellent schools and districts. It feeds into Chapin Middle and HS. The one in Chapin is off of Three Dog Rd behind the Foxport subdivision. It's only about 9 miles from there to the Harbison/ Columbia area.

The one in Chapin will probably have the higher median income parents and higher median sales price for homes but you'll have great teachers, parents and kids in both.
