Hi y'all.

From actual experience, what are typical door to door drive times to the Western NC ski areas?

What are typical drive times to the nearest beaches (presumably the ones near Charleston?)?

Much obliged.

we just went to Isle of Palms beach Saturday, about 2:20 from Chapin. No prob at all, considering we just moved from WI ( a bit longer for beach travel time! )

From downtown Columbia, you can be sitting on the beaches in Charleston in 1 hour 45 minutes. 2 hours maximum. This includes Isle of Palms, Wild Dunes, Sullivans Island, Folly Beach, etc. You can get to the Grandstrand beaches (Pawley's Island, Litchfield, Garden City, Surfside, etc.) in about 2 hours 15 minutes. Myrtle Beach will be about 2 1/2 hours.

As for the mountains, from downtown Columbia, you can be at Sugar Mountain or Beech Mountain in less than 3 hours. Asheville is a little over 2 hours away.

It's such a nice benefit of living here that you can go to either the beaches or the mountains just for a regular weekend trip, without having to take vacation from work! Not too many places in the country are within 2-3 hours from both great beaches and great mountains!

Hilton Head Island & Edisto Beach are about 2 1/2 hours as well.
