Question Electrician Rates in Columbia??

I'm moving into a new house and am getting new light fixtures. I'm thinking of hiring an electrician (due to time constraints). However, I want to get a ballpark of how much an electrician might charge to replace 8 light fixtures? One is in the foyer, which is REALLY HIGH (I'm 5'2 on a good day) and I think I would need a scaffold or something. Has anyone had any experience with a electrician replacing light fixtures in the area? What are typical electrician rates in Columbia!!

Thanks in advance!!!

I've generally paid $75 an hour to $100 an hour for electricians. I highly recommend Seastrunk Electric. Many companies scoff at residential work, but they don't.

Have you asked the place where you are purchasing the fixtures about installation? If nothing else they should be able to give you an idea of what installation runs in this area. They might even have a recommendation or two.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, the light store has a list of electricians. I just wanted to get an estimate before I called....it NEVER fails...if you're a "chick", they tend to give the HIGHEST rate! So, I like to be prepared as I don't like to play that game! :-)

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and ask them about installation charges for their fixtures. They usually have a set price for replacing existing fixtures so you can see if you are getting a fair shake with a different contractor.
