Steve_I is on a distinguished road
I go through Lexington daily. In fact, I live in Lexington County, right near the north side of the dam.

Lexington is sprawl. Suburban, or urban sprawl is the same thing. From what I've seen, the only area that has any kind of atmosphere/character is the downtown, and Columbiadata said it best.... lets plow that down and widen the road. Lex downtown = EPIC FAIL. The rest is 378/asphalt and housing developments without road improvements. Try driving down Old Cherokee road which barely even has a left turn lane. Guess what, there is a new KB homes devlopment. SMART!

Are there some nice homes to live in? Of course, and I would definitely consider living on the Lake in an older (non cookie-cutter) neighborhood. At the same time I wouldn't talk Lexington up as a city with any real outstanding qualities.

Columbiadata will become famous soon enoughColumbiadata will become famous soon enough
Steve_I, you made it sound as thought I said to plow downtown Lexington down. I said there are those who wish that would happen so they could get to their suburban Columbia homes faster.
