We currently have our house on the market here in Central FL. I have accepted a teaching position in the Columbia area. We are looking for a good quiet area to buy a house - on teacher salary. We are interested in Columbia or outlying towns as well. How is it really living in S. Carolina? We are also looking for an awesome Baptist church. We could also use info on homeschooling in S. Carolina. Thanks.

Cant help you with a church as I am catholic but there are alot of Baptist churches around. Check out Lexington for great schools or even West Columbia area. In west columbia there is a great community called Dove Park, I almost bought in there but it didnt have a community pool for my kids. We are closing on May 25th.

Default Columbia area

We moved to SC from out of state earlier this year. We liked the rural Lexington-Gilbert area and the commute into West Col is not bad. But, if you are looking for a diversified population West Columbia is the way to go.

There are several websites on SC homeschooling - from the explaining the laws to the associations - both secular and religious. We are moving from GA soon - here are some that I found: http://www.carolinahomeschooler.com/

The Shandon area near USC is great. Cute little craftsman style homes amongst larger "old money" homes. Columbia is the hottest place on earth. Weekends at the river are great. Park in the Riverbanks zoo parking lot and follow the trails to the rocks by the river. So much fun, and a great way to beat the heat.

Thansk for the inof on home schooling. We have been to Columbia several times and have many beautiful areas. We just need to find an area affordable for us. Any thoughts on Irmo (or NW Columbia) , out by the Camden area, Cayce, etc. Thanks.
