Default Sumter Bakeries?

Doesn't necessarily have to be a bakery, but I REALLY need someone who can make a wedding cake, the lady who was going to make my cake is now starting to go blind and cannot do it. If anyone can help or knows someone I will get you in touch with my Grandma ASAP! Thank you so much!

By the way, I am not considering Baker's Sweets, already read all the reviews and they were very rude to one military family who ordered their cake from there, even calling their superiors and getting them in trouble for no reason.

I don't know if you're willing to go outside of Sumter but Tiffany's Bakery in NE Columbia makes great baked goods and sweets. Now, I haven't had any wedding cake or heard anything about their abilities when it comes to wedding cakes. Good luck!

It says they specialize in wedding cakes so I will definitely have my Mom look into it. I definitely need a place that is willing to deliver to Sumter and set up though, maybe they will. Thanks!

Where did you hear bad reviews about Baker's Sweets? We've had nothing but good experiences with them and, when we lived on that side of town, used to stop by for coffee & a treat every day. I've only heard others say good things about them, too. I'd like to know where you read that, though. Not because I'm disputing the incident or am trying to stick up for Baker's Sweets (I have no vested interest in them), but because I'd like to get the whole story and see if anyone else has had bad experiences.

Hi there! When I was doing a search on Google for bakeries in Sumter and found the review. I will post the link at the end of this post. I have also been there for coffee and dessert and it was wonderful, but a wedding cake is definitely a more important purchase than coffee and desserts so I was looking for reviews specifically about wedding cakes. I found tons of reviews, but only 2 about wedding cakes, and both of those were awful. Here's 2 links to reviews, the first one has the 2 I was speaking of.

Baker's Sweets on Google

Baker's Sweets on Yelp

Forgot to ask, has anyone dealt with Carasmatic Creations for any cakes? I found her while on Google as well, seems to be a nice lady making homemade cakes that sound yummy! I want a cake that tastes homemade but doesn't look homemade, definitely nothing out of a box!

Wow, looks like things have gone downhill lately. I know 'Brittany and Tim' from Yelping over the last few years and it looks like just a few weeks ago she changed her review from a 5 to a 1. The other poor review is also from 2-3 weeks ago. I haven't actually been in a few months, so I don't know what's changed, but I'm sorry to hear that. It really was a great place. And I met the owner several times and she was a wonderful lady.

(There's a 3rd review affecting the overall rating but I dismissed it because his comment along with it was "Im pretty close to 100% sure this joint is no longer open").

It looks like all the bad reviews from both sites are centered around one incident involving the wedding cake. I don't know if I would let that influence my opionion; it's certainly something to keep in mind, but it could also be an isolated incident that got blown out of proportions. It wouldn't cost anything for you to stop by and talk with them.

This is true and I will definitely consider it! I did go there before, but it has also been a while, it was great when I went!

I'm sure the wedding cake situation has been resolved, but if anyone needs a specialty cake there is an Air Force wife in Hunters crossing who does great work. I've seen it and tasted it while I was working in her house. Wonderful young lady with talent. The company name is Sweet Claira's you can contact her at sweetclairas@yahoo.com or on facebook at sweetclaireas. If you have a problem you can find me at pencethepainter@gmail.com and I'll forward the message.
