Default What to do?

OK, we're only in Cloumbia for tonite and tomarrow night. We're picking up my son at FT Jackson and are staying near there. What are a couple MUST do/see things to do during our short visit???
Thanks!!!

I guess the easy answer is that it depends what activities are you interested in. Outdoors? Shopping? History/museums? What kind of food do you like?

You should go to Riverfront Park off of Huger Street. It's free and you get to walk along the Congaree river and the Canal. Riverbanks Zoo is nice off of Greystone BLVD, a short drive from down town. Also the SC State Museum across the Gervias Street Bridge and the Columbia Museum of Art at the corner Main and Hampton. You can always walk around the State Capital off of Gervias Street. Not sure what you are looking to do, these are just some suggestions for you.

Definitely a tour of the SC State House, Riverbanks Zoo (if it isn't too hot), the Columbia Museum of Art and the State Museum, in that order.

What about a personalized tour since you know Columbia so well.

I'd also suggest the zoo and the gardens there; esp in the am ( less crowds, "cooler" temps )

oops, forgot to add: as it looks like you're from MN ( we just moved from WI ), might I suggest a couple hour drive to Charleston for a day trip. Spend a couple hours at one of their beaches for some ocean time, and maybe a carriage ride around town there. Grab a bit to eat and back before evening. It's a lot to cram in for your short time here, but if you've never hit the ocean before, it's easy enough to do from here.
just thinking out loud...
