Question Looking for information for Lugoff

Hi everyone.

We've just very recently moved to Lugoff. We love all of Kershaw County. Just seems a nicer area than Columbia. Nothing against Columbia though!

What I'm looking for now is information. We are new to Lugoff - actually new to SC! Can you please share some of your likes and dislikes with me?

I'm talking about restaurants, activities, hair dressers, shopping... just anything. We don't even know if there is any food deliveries around here. I'm sure there has to be Pizza places that deliver - are there any Chinese restaurants that deliver?

Trash pick up. Any recommendations on that? I'm used to that being part of a water bill where we moved from. Now I have to find a company to pick up trash.

What about job searching? If you were looking for an administrative position where else would you look besides the newspaper and Careerbuilders.com? Is there a local website with job postings?

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

Toni

Default Welcome to Kershaw County

Greetings!
Lugoff is nice and quiet with relatively low crime and friendly people. I can't answer all of your questions but here's what I need to know:

Where are you coming here from? If you're coming from a big city I can speak to you in terms you understand and draw comparisons you can relate to.

That's my only question.

I don't know about administrative jobs but you can peruse the classified ads in the West Wateree Chronicle, a weekly community newspaper that comes free to your mailbox. They're published by Camden Media, which, as the name says, is in Camden (right down Highway 601/US 1). You should also be getting the Lugoff/Elgin Leader, which has classified ads as well.

Davis Disposal can haul your garbage for a reasonable price. If you don't want to PAY you can take your own garbage to the dump in Elgin. The first time you go there, you show your drivers' license or other proof of residence and they give you this K sticker to put in your window. County dumps are very strict about not letting folks from "outside" dump their garbage. But the place is easy to get to (run by a couple of elder gentlemen) and dumping is quick and free.

That's all I can think of right now. More info as it comes to me.

Default Renting or Buying

Did you find a rental?
We are 2 months out from moving to the area and no sign of a rental.
Any suggestions.

I will try on Monday to call the lady you recommended earlier.
Thanks.

Default Moving from Lugoff

My wife and I are in the process of moving from Lugoff. We have loved living here and our neighborhood is fantastic! We want to list our house with a realtor but would rather save the commission and sell it ourselves. Lugoff has been a great little town. We will miss the Christmas parade, the convenience to Sand Hills, and the great schools. If anyone knows of someone who is looking for a nice small town to live in, we recommend Lugoff. Any help with selling our house would be greatly appreciated as well.
