Default fishing near columbus

Hi . .I'm on an extended civilian contract in Columbus, GA. I have some spare time and was considering dragging my fishing rod and tackle down here for either lake or river fishing. Anyone know if there are resources on fishing the river or nearby lakes? Or in general, if you have any advice for spending time outdoors, my windowless office in Columbus is getting me down. Thanks.

Go to the Lake Oliver Marina off of River Road. Good fishing there.

If you are willing to ride 45 minutes down the road to Eufaula, Lake Eufaula is know as the "Bass Capitol of the World." There are multiple fishing tournaments held on Lake Eufaula each year. Just google "Lake Eufaula, AL" and find out for yourself.

That is an excellent spot. They hold the Bass Masters Classic there every year which brings anglers from all over the country.
