A private developer plans to build a Marriott Courtyard Convention Center Hotel in downtown Phenix City. The hotel will overlook the Chattahoochee River.

Construction on the hotel could begin as early next spring. The hotel will be located at 14th Street and Third Avenue.
The city also is planning to build a parking garage near the hotel to accommodate riverfront development.

No word on how many stories or rooms. Hopefully more will follow tomorrow in the Ledger Enquirer.

Great news for the Columbus area!
