The congested traffic is caused not by those people living in Columbus only, but by those people who live in other counties and come here to work, shop, dine and to be entertained (you must remember there are about 600,000 people living in this area).

Poetry in Columbus Georgia

The Civic Center also get several concerts per year. The Liberty Theater is nice also, it is one the oldest African American theaters still in operation in GA; Tyler Perry have performed several of his plays there. Peach Tree, The Landings and Columbus Park Crossing are the largest malls. There are several other strip malls in Columbus.

For what its worth, entertainment-wise, we have a small but growing poetry scene here, as well... here's the latest on that:
Time for the latest Shadowville poetry workshop, this Thursday.
If you're in the area, I hope you'll join us... if not, then check the
link below for a view of the action.
Here's the archived video of the last reading/broadcast, December 6th
2007:
http://tinyurl.com/2qxe9q
From Ron Self:
"... Friends:
Take a respite from the frenzy of the holidays and share a little
poetry this Thursday, December 20th 7p.m. for our monthly poetry
workshop, 513 Broadway. Hope you can join us for coffee and refreshments.
Mark your calendar for January 3rd, our 1st Thursday open mic at
the Colulmbus Library.
http://www.georgiapoetrysociety.org/OPEN%20MIC%20COLUMBUS2.htm
Remember the challenge for the month: a poem that somehow includes a
cat pausing at the corner and leaning his/her head around the edge of
the building and looking before proceeding around the corner."
A splendid time for all is a given!

Augusta has more jobs than columbus, more things to do, and more population. If you look at the most wealth of every city in the state. Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah, Columbus, Macon, in that order. Metro Augusta has over 200,000 more ppl than metro columbus, and 100,000 more even if they add auburn opelika.

Its not even close augusta is on another level than columbus. The only large metro columbus is ahead of in the state is macon.
from the u.s census
Columbus Metro
Retail Trade 16,196
Manufacturing 10,000-24,999
Total # of workers in entire metro 99,647
Total # of places 5,890
Augusta Metro
Retail Trade 25,855
Manufacturing 36,118
Total # of workers in entire metro 179,573
Total # of places 10,581
Metro Augusta 530,000
Metro Columbus 290,000
PLUS AUBURN OPELIKA 430,000
Columbus has to pass savannah first before worrying about augusta. When i visit columbus it is growing, but as far as metro areas Augusta will be ahead for along time

What in the world is there to do in Augusta? You have more low paying jobs. The city of Augusta is loosing people faster than you can say Augusta. According to the latest census estimates, Atlanta, Athens, Columbus and Warner Robins are growing. Savannah, Macon and Augusta are shrinking. Columbus' GDP is growing faster than yours and for a metro area that is more than 200,000 people more your GDP output is only slightly more, so what does that tell you about the actual wealth of your city. Columbus is able to get more done than Augusta, Macon or Savannah, because we have great civic pride and we do not depend on the State or Federal Government to supply all the money needed to build a better city. Tell us about the future industrial growth of your great city or metro area. Enlighten us as to what great civic expansions have taken place in the Augusta/Aiken metro area. The second largest metro area, but you have nothing but the Masters Golf tournament. Georgia was hoping that you guys would vote the local group of leaders out of office so that you could move forward, but what did you guys do? You voted the same yahoos back in office, so that they can fight amongst themselves and get nothing done. Now that's progress.

Where do yo get your statistics? Please recheck and use a reliable source. I do believe the city of Columbus has more jobs than the city of Augusta. And I know for a fact that there are more than 99,000 jobs in the Columbus area. I have checked some of your other posts and looks like you are using the same source for your statistics, which are wrong.

There are close to 130,000 jobs. This is not including Auburn/Opelika.

You must be kidding. Columbus is adding 30,000-45,000 new residents by 2011 due to BRAC. This doesn't even take into account the Aflac expansion, Kia to the north, and all of the other industry moving to the area. Columbus will regain its 2nd largest city status soon (2010). Columbus will have 15,000-20,000 more people living inside Columbus than Augusta.

I don't know why you all continue to have a conversation with this guy. He changes his alias every time he gets blocks.
