The city of columbus doesn't have more jobs than the city of augusta. Sorry but you are wrong again. Nothing against columbus its a great city, but its behind augusta and savannah it share of the state.

Muscogee county 4,386 83,964
http://censtats.census.gov/cgi-bin/cbpnaic/cbpsect.pl

Richmond county 4,622 86,589
http://censtats.census.gov/cgi-bin/cbpnaic/cbpsect.pl

Now what JLA still think columbus metro or the city of columbus has more of anything than augusta

You can tell JLA doesn't visit augsuta, because richmond county gain ppl sorry. You are right that this yr the city of savannah, and macon have lost but not augusta. I have a family memeber who work for the goverment of richmond county. Columbus only gain 3,000 ppl from 2000 to 2006. Wow thats alot of growth when those people will be on a military base..

The city of augusta is at 190,000 columbus 188,000 so columbus might past due to brac. But richmond county is not consolidated with the whole county like columbus. The total richmond county is 195,000 muscogee stays at 188,000 it doesn't change. I never said augusta or savannah were better than columbus, but that they are ranked ahead in the share of the state. The facts are atlanta, augusta, savannah, columbus, macon, in that order control ga. If you check u.s. census the only metro, columbus will beat in ga is macon.

I said Augusta is losing population and that my friend is fact. The metro area has gained population, all of that gain is mostly in SC and a small percentage in Columbia county. But your beloved Richmond county has been losing people for a while, pretty much every since you guys consolidated. And Columbus will pass Augusta, because of BRAC and because of job creation, new industries coming in and people just want to live here, because we have got something to offer. Augusta is stuck in reverse and it will remain there for a while, and that's what the statistics plainly show. If you must know, my job requires me to travel throughout the state of GA. Since I am not really interested in Savannah's history, I find it a drab and unimpressive town and Augusta has squandered its history away, so it basically has nothing to show for itself for a city that is about 50 years older than Columbus.

116 Augusta-Richmond County (balance) Georgia 189,366 189,166 190,615 191,720 193,075 194,177 194,934 195,182 195,182

117 Columbus city Georgia 188,660 185,799 185,068 181,559 185,021 186,065 186,428 186,291 (X)

186 Savannah city Georgia 127,889 128,404 129,590 129,782 130,962 131,230 132,816 133,429 131,510

The link will help you to decipher the data, I hope. You sure do remind me of RichmondCounty. That person used to post the same type material and try to hype up Augusta, just like you.

Obviously a product of The Richmond County School System. Apparantly math also isn't his forte. Richmond County has lost over 6,000 ppl since 2000 and he says it is growing faster than Columbus...what kind of screwed up math is that? If a city has lost 6,000 residents it is not growing.. but shrinking.. All of the forecasting data shows that Columbus should easily overtake Augusta in population by the 2010 census.

PRODUCT OF RICHMOND COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM

In 2007 did the city of augusta gain or lose residents? It gained residents is math your forte obviously not. How can a city be shrinking if it gained in population. Adding residents to a military base is major growth according to some posters. Since 2000 columbus has gain only 3,000 residents. I'll just leave it at that. I got my diploma in mecklenburg county which got me to unc charlotte. A higher institute of learning something you definitely know nothing about. Obviously we know where you stand when it comes to the good ole boy by your comments. I guess bubba and mary joe would be proud

Only one city has 3 schools who got a 10. The same city is the lowest in violent crime what a shock. Now let the people from columbus finished their discussion on their growing city. I have left facts for all to see. I won't bother to post again

If you are really want to know how the school districts of GA are doing compared to one another, check out the following web site:

http://www.doe.k12.ga.us/

The state of GA has compiled some very good statistics on graduation rates, test scores and much more.

Default JLA I need documentation

JLA I am looking for tangible websites to show the projected population of Columbus, GA MSA to 2010 as I write a business plan. I have the proposed figures of how BRAC will affect the growth as well. Any additional information is greatly appreciated. I have been able to access the chamber of commerce (census 2000).

You should also include information on the Combined Statistical Data for Columbus MSA and Auburn/Opelika MSA. Please refer to GA and AL Gov. web sites for additional information on projected job growth, the information should give you a better idea of future regional growth. As far as I know the Chamber of Commerce data is out of date and is using old 2000 census data. The US Census web site have not revised their data to reflect the influx on people from the BRAC move or all the industrial growth in the area. Try this site, you might have to do a little digging but you might be able to find what you are looking for: http://robinson.gsu.edu/efc/index.htm
