The once thing I think could hurt with it's location though it's it's proximity to public housing in Phenix City.
I work at TSYS. Those business clients, agents, bosses etc will be recommended to stay at the Marriot in Columbus.

I think new hires that come from all across the USA will choose that hotel as their first choice given that they don't know Columbus that well!

Hence the reason a nice hotel next to Country's on Broad would do well. You can capture all aspects of people visiting the city, whether they are here for business, a convention, concert, or taking part in Whitewater. Columbus needs to push for another large full-service hotel (250+ rooms).

Meanwhile, in downtown Savannah, they keep building hotels and building hotels and building hotels ... This 400 room monster was just announced:

Not sure but I think it goes back some toward the river. You would have to build straight up which is good. There is a large tract between 13th st. And 14th st. that would work perfect.

Ive heard that the city was going to develop the large empty space between Tsys and the old City Mills. It would be great for a large hotel or a multistory condominium. The view is awesome, I think they should turn City mills into lofts and turn the part that used to be generators that extend into the river into a restaurant, I think that would be nice!

Around 30,000-40,000 square feet. The lot was up for sale a couple of years ago.

Any idea on their plans? I do know the part that extends into the river has been talked about becoming a restaurant. How cool would that be with kayakers and rafters going by while you had lunch or dinner!?
