We have recently moved to Columbus GA from Savannah as a result of my husband's job. This forum has been instrumental in helping us learn about the area! We have settled in the North Columbus area (31909) with our children attending Eagle Ridge Academy and Blackmon Road Middle in August. The biggest question mark for me is still the job market.

How do people search for jobs here? In the past I have been very successful with staffing companies and was placed fairly quickly. However it seems that the pickings are slim here. I am an HR/Payroll Administrator with experience also in mortgage banking. When I go to Career Builder, Monster or even Craigslist it appears the jobs are mostly in sales as independent contractors.

I would greatly appreciate any advise, suggestions or recommendations that anyone could offer.

Thanks,

I'll agree its hard to find a job here, well depending on your back ground. You seem like your checking all the usual spots and Kim gave you another good one. I would look up various Columbus based companies - from Aflac to TSYS, Jordan company, Woodruff or any of the companies out in the tech park or the Brookstone centre tech park and see if you can apply directly to the smaller ones and Aflac and the like will run you around the world, but it's worth a shot because they are always hiring

Synovus might be a great place to start based on your experience. They are a huge regional bank based here.

Thanks so much kimolive for the information about the job fair. I'm kicking myself for not checking this forum on a daily basis. Is there an option for the Original Poster to receive an alert when there is a new reply on a thread. I do not want to miss out on another lead like that!!!

Thanks Again,
