>90% of the airport's business comes from private flights. Delta operates at a loss to fly commercial out of here, getting another carrier is a bit of a pipe dream at this point in time.

Columbus is just too close to Atlanta for people to fly from here.

That said, I've done it a few times over the last few years and I love it, love not having to lug our stuff through Hartsfield and avoiding the drive is especially nice on the way home. If another flight was ever added, I think a direct to NWFL Beaches would be great - at least as a seasonal route.

A direct flight to Charlotte is supposedly in the works. It’s a blessing and a curse to be so close to Hartsfield. I would like to see a direct flight to Dallas, Chicago, and New York.

I think a direct flight to Charlotte has been "in the works" for about 7 years now. Comments to that effect were made in 2011. Obviously, no hurry...

The city should try building a smaller airport closer to fort benning. Those extra 4 or 5 miles away Hartsfield could make the difference.

Flights to other major hubs are beyond a pipe dream, regional airports fly to their hub and a few other regional airports in their region.

Columbus should be getting a flight to DC soon. The other 2nd tier cities already have theirs.

That would be an absolute waste of money and makes no sense at all. Our current airport is more than capable of handling several airlines. Start by supporting Delta to increase passenger numbers and you will see more airlines come into our market.

How is that a pipe dream? Regional airports mainly fly to hubs.

Right, the hub in their region. Not outside the region.

Augusta doesn't fly to DC and Macon only does because of the huge subsidy that Contour gets.

There are plenty of regional airports that fly to hubs outside of their region. Look at Asheville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, etc.
