Columbus is a great, progressive city. You have no clue what you are talking about. It is home to fortune 500 companies, one of the worlds largest military bases, etc. It is a perfect mid-sized city that is poised for tremendous growth. It is in the process of leaving all of GA's 2nd tier cities in the dust. You can't hide the facts man. As a developer myself, we have only seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Columbus's potential.

Well I would choose Columbus over Macon or Disgusta anyday.. It's not my first choice for a city in Georgia.. but there are certainly far worse places to be in Georgia than Columbus.

Ok ok i agree with you when it comes to Columbus being a progressive city.I must admit that i have never in my almost 40years heard of any bickering, racial baiting, financial shortfalls or anything like that about Columbus. When the city-county government consolidated ,it did so rather seemly if i recall.Yes i do know about all the development that is expected now and over the next few years but there are certain obstacles that Columbus has a disadvantage to all those cities.LOGISTICS!!1)Macon was loosing jobs and population left and right for many years but.It never went completely under because of Atlanta encroaching further toward the south closer to an equally fast growing north Macon suburbs. .As long as Atlanta grows,so will Macon.2)Macon has Robins AFB in the same proximity as Ft.Benning is to Columbus.Robins is the largest employer in the State of Georgia.3)Macon has been able to attract a lot of Manufacturing jobs to the area as they have been very successful at recruiting new companies to the area to buy existing plants as well as expanding those companies that already have a presence there.4)Macon will be the heart of any type of future commuter rail.5)Macon and middle Georgia have had a lot of powerful leaders from the area for many years and still today.6)If you are in Macon in the Daytime it is a very vibrant city core. With people walking and new cafes.Columbus downtown is like so split up it does not make it easy for pedestrian friendly density.
Savannah's ports are the fastest growing in North America. The downtown historic section is expanding to the original blueprint as it was never completed originally by Gen.James Oglethorpe. Its a major renovation project to restore massive amounts of downtown.

I think you are hiding the facts my friend.
Come back down to earth.
As for being a developer why not tell the forum members of all the sites you have built in Columbus.

One could argue that the growth of Atlanta has actually handicapped Macon..
Atlanta has such a gravitational pull because of its corporate presence, huge airport, etc.. that it's very difficult for smaller cities like Macon to compete. I think Savannah is the only city in Georgia that is some what immune to the Atlanta Effect.. because of its status as a port city.

And think about how many young people leave places like Macon for Atlanta..
This is also true for Augusta.. young people leave after highschool for college.. and many end up in places like Atlanta.. where the jobs are.. and never return to except to visit family.
I would say the presence of Atlanta and it's astonishing growth actually makes it harder for Georgia's second tier cities like Augusta, Macon, and Columbus to grow much beyond their current capacities. Columbus seems to have done better at drawing in a corporate presence.. but it's still tiny compared to what's happening in Atlanta..

Regardless of what anyone from Columbus says, it goes like this.
If you're more for urban city life, the other second tier cities are easier to sale than Columbus.
If you're more a suburban type, Columbus is easier to sale.
Columbus is dull. You can just ride through the other cities and see they are more vibrant.

What? Are you trying to say otherwise? I guess Columbus has a button it can press and all of a sudden the dull slow paced life turns into a real city. Oh, but if you can show otherwise please do tell.
