When you enter Columbus on hwy 80 and loop unto manchester expressway...or enter columbus on I-185, you cant tell you are coming into a really nice sized metro area. It looks like you're in some micropolitan area like Dublin or Milledgeville.

When entering Macon, you know you are coming into "the city"

Also, When I was in Columbus, the people there get extra "excited" about things that arent really too much of big deal in Macon, things that we are already used to.

When you ask locals about a mall in Columbus they refer to that shopping center down veterans pkwy that is similar to Eisenhower Crossing in Macon. They act as if it is the greatest thing in the world, while people in the Macon (and the entire area) dont make much of a big deal about Eisenhower crossing.

Also, when there was a big R&B show in town at the civic center, some people were even saying Columbus really hadnt drawn shows of that magnitude in town before.....I was shocked and it wasnt too much of a big deal to me, because I'm used to urban music stars being in and out of Macon frequently.

People from such a thriving, vibrant, city of 180-190,000 people shouldnt be going crazy over shopping centers and r&b acts coming to town.....because those things arent uncommon in any real urban/city enviornments

I must say that Columbus is a great city. An excellent place to live and raise a family. Has a low crime rate. Excellent shopping places , places to eat out , and medical facilities. I have relatives here and have visited many times. I also live only 40 miles from Macon and have been there many , many times. If I chose to live in either of these two cities , I would choose Columbus any day.

I never trashed Columbus, I just said your facts were wrong to the point of delusion.

I have lived in Macon, and let me just say, I feel way safer in Columbus! I think mountaineer has a point about the crime. And sure macon does feel more like a asecond tier because it is so compacted and overpopulated.
