I grew up in Columbus. Child of the 70's and teen of the 80's. It was a nice charming small town when I was a kid. I remember OZ Records and Tapes, Ken's Pizza, Pizza Inn, Top Hat Chicken and the A&P on Floyd rd. I left for Atlanta in 96 and returned in 2003 to find a much different city. Columbus Square Mall, my second home as a teen, was gone for reasons that still make me furious. The town had been invaded by chain stores and I sincerely feel bad for those of you living on Moon Rd near Columbus Park Crossing. They should've widened roads before they built all this stuff. This isn't growth, this is bloating. I wish I'd stayed up in Alpharetta.

But definitely not a dump next to an armpit as Columbus is.
Columbus could only dream of being anything like Alpharetta/Roswell area.
Face it man.....Columbus is a mess.

I agree....
How would Gaga or whatever his name is know much about Columbus past as he isn't even old enough to be any authority on how the city used to be.
I think he is stuck in third gear....

If Macon consolidated with Bibb county the population would be somewhere around 160,000 and it would become Georgia's fourth largest city which is about 28,000 less than Columbus.
Plus it would Increase from 55 Sq miles to 255 Sq miles, which is Larger than Columbus' 216 Sq miles....

That's true...Macon would become less dense than Columbus, but landwise it would be the second largest city in GA behind Augusta.

CVCC in Phenix City had the real thing but even they lost accreditation recently.

Bless you..
That is a shame. My mom works at St. Francis and she was saying how unfortunately when they want to hire nurses they look at that. A CVCC resume won't neccesarily be thrown in the trash but if it's a choice between a Columbus Tech grad and a CVCC grad then the Columbus Tech grad will automatically get the job.

There are some good folks at CVCC so I hope they get their accreditation back soon. The hard working students shouldn't be punished because of lackluster faculty.
